Health News - Zetia + statin greatly decreases LDL cholesterol

Statins reduce the amount of cholesterol the liver makes, and ezetimibe (Zetia) prevents the intestine from absorbing cholesterol, used together these drugs lower LDL (”bad”) cholesterol much more than either drug alone. In a U.K. study reported in Current Medical Research and opinion, 148 patients received ezetimibe plus atorvastatin (Lipitor) or atorvastatin alone.
